A patient services lead at a Riyadh clinic checks a booking form on a tablet while a developer works beside her.

Vercel · Frameworks

A release goes out while a patient fills your form, and the form resets. Keep their place through every deploy.

SvelteKit gives your team small, fast pages, and its adapter detects Vercel and deploys with zero configuration. Turn on Skew Protection and a visitor who opened the page before a release keeps working on the version they started with. Previews, Web Analytics, Speed Insights and the Flags SDK work with it.

The problem

Where a Svelte app trips up today.

What SvelteKit is

SvelteKit, in plain words.

Facts from Vercel’s own pages, checked on 16 October 2026. The sources are at the end of this page.

Setup
SvelteKit projects deploy to Vercel with zero configuration.
The adapter
adapter-auto detects Vercel. Vercel recommends installing @sveltejs/adapter-vercel directly for version stability.
Runtime per route
Set the runtime for the whole project or per route, such as nodejs24.x or edge.
Split when needed
Routes share one Function by default. split: true separates them, which helps with size limits or long cold starts.
Skew Protection
With it on, requests go to the deployment the visitor started on, so no client state is lost. You turn it on in project settings.
Also supported
Streaming, ISR, Image Optimization, Web Analytics, Speed Insights, Draft Mode, Routing Middleware and the Flags SDK.

How it works

From Svelte code to releases nobody notices.

Five steps. The last two are the point: new visitors get the new version, and people mid-task finish on the old one.

Five steps: install the adapter, push for a preview, turn on Skew Protection, merge to go live, open tabs keep working.

The same steps are written out below.

Step by step

What happens at each step.

  1. Adapter

    Install the Vercel adapter

    Pin @sveltejs/adapter-vercel in svelte.config.js.

  2. Push

    Push or run vercel

Every pull request gets a preview link.

  3. Skew

    Turn on Skew Protection

    Once, in the project settings.

  4. Release

    Merge to go live

New visitors get the new version.

  5. Keep

    Open tabs keep working

Visitors mid-task stay on the version they started with.

How it fits together

Where SvelteKit sits between your visitors and your systems.

Your Svelte app lives in Git and builds on Vercel through the adapter. Pages come from the CDN or Functions. Skew Protection keeps open tabs on their deployment. Flags and analytics run beside it, and bookings go to Salesforce.

A SvelteKit app builds on Vercel, serves visitors, keeps open tabs on their version and sends bookings to Salesforce.

Use cases · worked examples

One worked example in each industry.

How SvelteKit fits into the work of the industries we serve, one step at a time.

  1. A patient fills an intake form while a release goes out, keeps her answers, and the intake reaches the front desk.

    Example 1 · Clinics, Jeddah · Infographic

Patient services lead at a Jeddah dermatology clinic

Today: Patients fill a long intake form before they book. When the site updates mid-morning, some lose everything and call the front desk.

After: Skew Protection keeps a patient mid-form on the version they opened. The intake reaches Salesforce, and new visitors get the update.

    Worked example, step by step

    1. 10:00Patient. Starts the intake form on her phone.
    2. 10:02Developer. Merges a change to the doctors page. A new deployment goes live.
    3. 10:03Vercel. Routes the patient’s requests to the deployment she started on.
    4. 10:06Patient. Submits the form. Nothing she typed is lost.
    5. 10:06Salesforce. The intake arrives as a new patient enquiry for the front desk.
    6. 10:07New visitors. Get the updated doctors page.

The clinic ships updates during clinic hours, and no patient has to start the form again.

    Clinics
  2. One microsite with two headlines behind a flag, leads tagged in Salesforce, and the client picks the winner.

Example 2 · Marketing agency, Mumbai · Infographic

Account director at a Mumbai performance marketing agency

Today: Every campaign needs a microsite, and testing two headlines means building two sites.

After: One SvelteKit microsite shows headline A or B through a Flags SDK flag. Each lead reaches Salesforce with the headline the visitor saw.

    Worked example, step by step

    1. Mon 11:00Developer. Adds two headlines behind one flag in the microsite.
    2. Mon 15:00Account director. Checks both on the preview link with the client.
    3. Tue 09:00Vercel. The flag shows headline A or B to each visitor.
    4. Tue to FriSalesforce. Logs each lead with the headline the visitor saw.
    5. MonAccount director. Shows the client which headline brought more leads, then switches the flag.

One site and one flag do the job of two microsites, and the client sees leads per headline.

    Marketing agencies
  3. A customer opens a tracking link, the status shows first, the driver scan fills in, and nobody calls the hotline.

    Example 3 · Couriers, Dubai · Infographic

Customer service lead at a Dubai same-day courier

Today: Our tracking page waits for every system before it shows anything. Customers stare at a blank screen and then call.

After: The SvelteKit tracking page streams. The parcel’s status shows first, and the driver’s last scan fills in a moment later.

    Worked example, step by step

    1. 14:00Customer. Opens the tracking link from the WhatsApp message.
    2. 14:00Vercel. Streams the page. The parcel status and address show first.
    3. 14:00Tracking database. Returns the driver’s last scan, which fills in a moment later.
    4. 14:01Customer. Sees the delivery window and closes the page.
    5. 17:00Service lead. Checks Speed Insights for how fast the page loads on phones.

Customers see their parcel status first, before the slower systems answer.

Is it for you

When SvelteKit fits, and when it doesn’t.

Good fit

Not for you yet

Your team or agency writes Svelte
You want the SvelteKit config file in TypeScript: it cannot be
Visitors fill long forms or carts
Nobody on your side or your agency’s writes Svelte
You release during working hours
The app is tiny and changes twice a year
You want flags and analytics on the same platform
Your data must stay on servers in the UAE or Saudi Arabia

What Mindcat does

We build it, then we run it.

The assessment is free: a short read of the org and a written note. If you go ahead, the first build week is a fixed AED/SAR 14,900 (about USD 4,050), credited in full when you sign the build within 60 days. After go-live, we keep it patched, watched and changing every month.

FAQ

What teams ask about SvelteKit.

Is Skew Protection on by default?
You turn it on in project settings. Without it, SvelteKit does a hard reload when the version changes and the visitor loses their state. We switch it on and test it with a form half filled.
Should we split routes into separate Functions?
Usually not. One Function is the default and usually the better choice. split: true helps when the bundle hits size limits or cold starts run long.
Can the SvelteKit config file be TypeScript?
No. Vercel’s docs say you cannot use TypeScript for your SvelteKit config file, so svelte.config.js stays JavaScript.
What does hosting cost?
There is no SvelteKit price on Vercel. Hosting follows your Vercel plan and Functions use. Hobby is for non-commercial, personal use only, so a business app needs Pro or Enterprise.
Where does it run for visitors in the UAE and Saudi Arabia?
Vercel lists 19 compute regions and none of them is in the UAE or Saudi Arabia today. Mumbai (bom1) is the closest. If your data must stay in the country, tell us in the assessment: we confirm residency per project before you sign, and sometimes that rules Vercel out.
