An IT manager and a compliance officer in Dubai work through a printed security questionnaire at a meeting table.

Vercel · Security

The security questionnaire lands and nobody knows the hosting answers. Point to a report or a setting for each one.

A bank, a hospital group or a master developer wants to know who can see the data, how it is encrypted and where it lives. Vercel blocks attack traffic on every plan and publishes its own audit reports. We set up the sign-in, roles and protection on your team, then write down plainly what Vercel covers and what your app still has to cover.

The problem

Where a security review stalls today.

What Platform Security is

Platform Security, in plain words.

Facts from Vercel’s own pages, checked on 16 October 2026. The sources are at the end of this page.

Attack traffic
Vercel mitigates L3, L4 and L7 DDoS attacks on every plan, with no setup. It does not charge for traffic the firewall blocks.
Vercel’s own reports
SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001:2022, PCI DSS v4.0 AOCs, TISAX AL2, EU-U.S. DPF and a GDPR DPA. These certify Vercel, not your app.
HIPAA
Vercel signs BAAs with eligible Pro and Enterprise customers. On Pro it is a $350 a month add-on, as of 16 October 2026.
Encryption and backups
AES-256 at rest and TLS 1.3 in transit. Vercel backs up every two hours and keeps each backup 30 days. Customers cannot restore from them.
Where data runs
Functions default to Washington, D.C. There is no region in the UAE or Saudi Arabia, and Mumbai is the nearest. Vercel may process data in the US.
Team access
Roles, deployment protection and SAML SSO ($300 a month on Pro as of 16 October 2026). Audit logs and directory sync are Enterprise-only.

How it works

From an attack on the network to an answer in the questionnaire.

Five layers. The first runs on its own. The rest we set up on your team, then write down for the reviewer.

Five steps: attack traffic is filtered, firewall rules run, previews stay behind sign-in, the team signs in with roles, reports are ready.

Infographic

The same steps are written out below.

Step by step

What happens at each step.

  1. Filter

    Attack traffic is filtered first

DDoS mitigation and the platform firewall run on every request, on every plan.

  2. Rules

    Your firewall rules run

Custom rules, bot rulesets and BotID on the routes that matter.

  3. Lock

    Previews stay behind sign-in

Test builds need a Vercel sign-in, a password or a trusted IP before anyone sees them.

  4. People

Your team signs in with roles

Each person gets their own access. SSO on Pro, audit logs and SCIM on Enterprise.

  5. Evidence

    Reports ready for the review

SOC 2, ISO, PCI AOC and pen test reports, requested through security.vercel.com.

How it fits together

Where platform security sits between your customers and your data.

Traffic passes Vercel’s firewall before it reaches your app. Your app talks to Salesforce and your database. Your team signs in with roles to change any of it. Vercel’s reports cover the platform. Your app, your Salesforce org and your forms need their own checks.

Customers pass Vercel’s firewall to reach your app, which talks to Salesforce, with team sign-in and roles guarding changes.

Use cases · worked examples

One worked example in each industry.

How Platform Security fits into the work of the industries we serve, one step at a time.

  1. A bank’s questionnaire is answered with Vercel’s SOC 2 and ISO reports and a written list of shared duties.

Example 1 · Financial services, Mumbai · Infographic

Head of IT risk at a Mumbai wealth management firm

Today: Our partner bank sent a vendor security questionnaire about the new client portal. It is due in two weeks, and half the questions are about hosting.

After: Every hosting question gets an answer that points to a Vercel report or a setting on the firm’s team. The shared duties are written down, so the bank sees what Vercel covers and what the firm covers.

    Worked example, step by step

    1. Mon 10:00Head of IT risk. Forwards the questionnaire and flags the hosting, encryption and access sections.
    2. Mon 14:00Account owner. Requests Vercel’s SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 reports through security.vercel.com.
    3. Tue 11:00Mindcat. Writes the shared-duty sheet: the platform is Vercel’s, the portal and the Salesforce org are the firm’s.
    4. Tue 16:00Mindcat. Answers data location plainly: functions run in Mumbai, and Vercel may still process data in the US.
    5. Wed 12:00Head of IT risk. Returns the questionnaire. Each answer cites a report or a setting.

The bank gets evidence, not promises, and the firm never claims a certificate that belongs to Vercel.

    Financial services
  2. A clinic adds the HIPAA BAA on its Pro team, checks forms and logs for patient data, then launches intake.

    Example 2 · Clinics, Houston · Infographic

Operations director at a Houston clinic group

Today: We want online patient intake. Our compliance lead will not sign off until every vendor that touches patient data has signed a BAA.

After: The clinic’s Pro team adds Vercel’s HIPAA BAA. We check the intake form, logs and error reports so patient details only go where the clinic expects.

    Worked example, step by step

    1. MonOps director. Asks whether the hosting will sign a BAA.
    2. MonMindcat. Confirms Vercel signs BAAs with eligible Pro and Enterprise teams, as a paid add-on on Pro.
    3. TueAccount owner. Adds the HIPAA BAA on the clinic’s Pro team.
    4. WedMindcat. Checks that logs and error reports carry no patient names or dates of birth.
    5. ThuCompliance lead. Signs off. Intake goes live.

The BAA covers Vercel’s side. The clinic’s own controls cover the app, and both are on paper.

    Clinics
  3. A brokerage answers a developer’s questions with team roles, locked previews and a written data location statement.

Example 3 · Real estate, Dubai · Infographic

IT lead at a Dubai brokerage building a buyer portal

Today: The master developer will only share unit inventory once we show who can see buyer data and where it is stored.

After: Each person on the brokerage team gets a role. Every preview sits behind sign-in. The data location answer is written down, with buyer records kept in Salesforce.

    Worked example, step by step

    1. 09:00Developer’s IT team. Asks four things: who signs in, who sees buyer data, where it is stored, who approves changes.
    2. 10:30Mindcat. Sets team roles so agents, admins and developers each get different access.
    3. 11:00Mindcat. Puts every preview behind Vercel sign-in.
    4. 14:00Mindcat. Writes the data location answer: no UAE region, buyer records in Salesforce, Vercel may process data in the US.
    5. 16:00Brokerage IT lead. Sends the answers. The developer approves the portal for the launch.

The developer gets straight answers, including the one about data location, before any inventory is shared.

Is it for you

When Platform Security fits, and when it doesn’t.

Good fit

Not for you yet

A buyer or partner sends you security questionnaires
The contract says data must stay in the UAE or Saudi Arabia
Several people and agencies change your site or app
You need a UAE, Saudi or India data-protection statement from the host
You need HIPAA cover in the US, on Pro or Enterprise
You expect Vercel’s certificates to certify your own app
You want test builds hidden from the public
The site is on Hobby, which is for non-commercial use only

What Mindcat does

We build it, then we run it.

The assessment is free: a short read of the org and a written note. If you go ahead, the first build week is a fixed AED/SAR 14,900 (about USD 4,050), credited in full when you sign the build within 60 days. After go-live, we keep it patched, watched and changing every month.

FAQ

What teams ask about Platform Security.

Does Mindcat certify our app as compliant?
No. SOC 2, ISO 27001 and the PCI AOCs are Vercel’s and cover Vercel’s platform. We set up your team and write down which parts Vercel covers and which your app still has to cover. Your auditor decides whether your app is compliant.
Is Vercel HIPAA certified?
Vercel says it supports HIPAA compliance as a business associate and signs BAAs with eligible Pro and Enterprise customers. On Pro the BAA is a $350 a month add-on as of 16 October 2026. Vercel’s security page still describes it as an Enterprise offer, so confirm with Vercel before you sign.
Can our data stay in the UAE or Saudi Arabia?
Not on Vercel today. None of its 19 compute regions is in the Middle East, and Mumbai is the nearest. Vercel also says it may transfer data to the United States. If your contract needs in-country hosting, we tell you before the build starts.
Which ISO version does Vercel hold?
Vercel’s compliance docs say ISO 27001:2022. One older FAQ on its security page still says 2013. We cite the docs and suggest you ask Vercel for the current certificate.
Can we get Vercel’s pen test report?
Pro and Enterprise customers can request pen test reports, along with SOC 2, ISO and PCI documents, through security.vercel.com. Your account owner makes the request.
