A designer in a Dubai agency drags a finished site folder into a browser while an account manager watches.

Vercel · Tools

The page is finished. It has been waiting a week for someone to host it.

The event page, the menu or the checklist is done in Claude Design, Bolt.new or Google Stitch. Then it waits for a developer, a server and a login. With Drop, you drag the folder into a browser and it is live on a link. There is no preview step, so we check it before it lands and move it into Git for every change after.

The problem

Why a finished page still is not live.

What Vercel Drop is

Vercel Drop, in plain words.

Facts from Vercel’s own pages, checked on 16 October 2026. The sources are at the end of this page.

What it is
Drag a file, a folder or a .zip into the browser at vercel.com/drop. No Git, no Vercel CLI, no local setup.
What it builds
Static sites, and framework projects that Vercel detects and builds for you. Vercel names exports from Bolt.new, Claude Design and Google Stitch.
Where it goes
Straight to production. There is no private preview link first: what you drop is public on its URL as soon as it is published.
One drop, one project
Each drop on vercel.com/drop creates a new project. It does not update the site you dropped last time.
After the drop
The project has no Git connection, so pushes do not deploy. Connect a Git repository to get a build on every change.
Account and status
A Vercel account is needed; Hobby works but is for non-commercial use only. The page carries no beta or GA label.

How it works

Five steps. The fourth is the one to plan for: the site is public the moment it lands, so the checking happens before you drop.

Five steps: export the site, drag it onto the page, pick a team and name, it is live at once, connect Git for later changes.

The same steps are written out below.

Step by step

What happens at each step.

  1. Export

    Export the finished site

From Claude Design, Bolt.new, Google Stitch, or your own build folder.

  2. Drop

Drag the folder onto the page

A file, a folder or a .zip at vercel.com/drop. With no index.html, Vercel asks which page to serve at the root.

  3. Name

Pick the team and a name

Each drop becomes a new project under the team you choose.

  4. Live

    It goes straight to production

Vercel builds it if it finds a framework, then publishes. No preview link comes first.

  5. Next

    Connect Git for later changes

A dropped project has no Git link. Connect one so the next edit gets a preview and a review.

How it fits together

Where Drop sits between the design tool and your customers.

The design or AI tool makes the files. Drop puts them live. From then on, Git and previews carry every change, and the page’s forms still send leads to Salesforce.

An export from a design tool is dropped in the browser and goes live, then moves to Git and previews, with leads going to Salesforce.

Use cases · worked examples

One worked example in each industry.

How Vercel Drop fits into the work of the industries we serve, one step at a time.

  1. An event page is exported, checked link by link, dropped live the same day, then moved into Git after the event.

Example 1 · Marketing agency, Dubai · Infographic

Account lead at a Dubai events and marketing agency

Today: The client approved the event page at noon and wants it live today. Our developer is on another launch until Thursday.

After: The designer exports the page, the account lead clicks through every link on her laptop, and it goes up with Drop the same afternoon. Next week it moves into Git.

    Worked example, step by step

    1. 13:00Designer. Finishes the event page in Claude Design and exports it as a .zip.
    2. 13:20Account lead. Opens the exported files on her laptop and clicks every link and the register button.
    3. 13:40Developer. Drops the .zip on vercel.com/drop under the agency’s Pro team. It is live on a link straight away.
    4. 14:00Developer. Adds the client’s event domain to the new project.
    5. 14:30Account lead. Sends a test registration and sees it reach Salesforce as a test lead.
    6. Next weekDeveloper. Connects the project to a Git repository, so the next change goes through a preview.

The client sees the page live on the day they asked for it, and later edits get a review.

    Marketing agencies
  2. A festival menu page made in an AI tool is checked by the owner, dropped live, and shared on WhatsApp.

    Example 2 · Restaurant, Kochi · Infographic

Manager at a Kochi restaurant with a festival menu

Today: Guests keep asking for the Onam menu on WhatsApp. We send a photo of the printed card, and half the time it is last year’s.

After: The manager builds a one-page menu in an AI design tool. The owner checks it, it goes live with Drop, and the link replaces the photo.

    Worked example, step by step

    1. 09:00Manager. Builds a one-page Onam sadya menu in an AI design tool and exports the folder.
    2. 09:30Owner. Reads every dish and price on the manager’s laptop, before anything is public.
    3. 10:00Manager. Drops the folder on vercel.com/drop. The menu is live at once.
    4. 10:15Manager. Puts the link in the WhatsApp Business quick reply for “menu?” messages.
    5. Next dayOwner. A price changes. A second drop would make a second project, so the developer moves the page into Git that week.

Guests get the right menu on WhatsApp the same morning, and the owner knows why the next change goes through Git.

    Restaurants and cafes
  3. A visa document checklist page is checked line by line, dropped live, and sent to clients before each visit.

Example 3 · PRO services, Abu Dhabi · Infographic

Office manager at an Abu Dhabi PRO and typing office

Today: Clients arrive without the right papers and we send them home. The checklist lives in a Word file we forward one by one.

After: The checklist becomes a one-page site. A senior PRO checks every line, it goes live with Drop, and the front desk sends the link with each booking.

    Worked example, step by step

    1. Sun 09:00Office manager. Has a one-page checklist of documents for each visa type, made in a design tool.
    2. Sun 10:00Senior PRO. Reads every line against the current requirements before it goes public.
    3. Sun 11:00Developer. Drops the folder. It is on production at once, with no preview step.
    4. Sun 11:30Front desk. Sends the link on WhatsApp with every appointment confirmation.
    5. Mon 09:00Developer. Connects the site to Git and adds an enquiry form that creates a lead in Salesforce.

Clients get the list before they reach the counter, and the page has an owner and a review route.

    PRO and typing services
Examples of the work, not client stories. Times in each example show the order of events, not a measured result.

Is it for you

When Vercel Drop fits, and when it doesn’t.

Good fit

Not for you yet

A finished export from a design or AI tool
You need a private preview before customers see it
A page that must be live today
You plan to update the same site by dropping again
Someone can check every link before it lands
The page takes card payments or patient data
You will move it into Git if it keeps changing
A business site on a Hobby account

What Mindcat does

We build it, then we run it.

The assessment is free: a short read of the org and a written note. If you go ahead, the first build week is a fixed AED/SAR 14,900 (about USD 4,050), credited in full when you sign the build within 60 days. After go-live, we keep it patched, watched and changing every month.

FAQ

What teams ask about Vercel Drop.

What does “straight to production” mean for us?
The moment Drop finishes, the page is public on its URL. There is no private link where your team checks it first. So we check the exported files before the drop, and we move anything that will change into Git, where every edit gets a preview.
Can we drop a new version over the old one?
Not from vercel.com/drop. Each drop there creates a new project. Vercel’s docs say dropping onto an existing project with no Git connection makes a new production deployment of it, but for anything you edit often, Git is the safer route.
Is there a size limit?
Vercel publishes none. Files upload from your browser, so a large folder takes longer on a slow connection. For big or frequent deploys, Vercel points to its CLI.
Do we need a Vercel account?
Yes. Hobby works, but Hobby is for non-commercial use only. A business page belongs on a Pro team your company owns.
Does Drop cost extra?
Vercel lists no separate price for Drop as of 16 October 2026. It runs on your Vercel plan.
