A service desk team reads a chat message and opens a ticket while an old server rack is boxed up in the corner.

Vercel · Frameworks

Your WhatsApp and Salesforce webhooks live on a server nobody watches. Move them to Nitro, with no box to run.

There is usually a small API in the middle: it takes a WhatsApp message, a payment or a form and writes it to Salesforce. Nitro is a TypeScript server framework for that job, and it deploys to Vercel with zero configuration. Each route becomes a Vercel Function on Fluid compute, and pages that rarely change can be cached and refreshed on demand.

The problem

What the little API in the middle costs you today.

What Nitro is

Nitro, in plain words.

Facts from Vercel’s own pages, checked on 16 October 2026. The sources are at the end of this page.

What it is
A TypeScript-first full-stack framework with filesystem routing, code splitting for fast startup, built-in caching and multi-driver storage.
Setup
Nitro apps deploy to Vercel with zero configuration. vc init nitro starts one.
Where it runs
Server routes become Vercel Functions on Fluid compute by default.
Cache and refresh
ISR with on-demand refresh through a bypass token and the x-prerender-revalidate header, plus per-route ISR rules.
Errors per route
Per-route Observability needs Nitro 2.12 or later and a compatibilityDate of 2025-07-15 or later.
Under other frameworks
Nitro runs Nuxt’s server and is the recommended way to run TanStack Start on Vercel.

How it works

From a webhook on a VPS to routes you can watch.

Five steps. Each endpoint is a file, each file becomes a Function, and each change gets a preview before it touches live data.

Five steps: start the app, write one route per endpoint, set cache rules, deploy with previews, watch each route.

The same steps are written out below.

Step by step

What happens at each step.

  1. Start

    Start the app

Run vc init nitro, or import the repository.

  2. Routes

    Write the routes

One file per endpoint: a webhook, a status page, a form handler.

  3. Rules

    Set cache rules

ISR for pages that change rarely, refreshed on demand.

  4. Deploy

    Deploy with previews

Each route becomes a Function, and each change gets a preview.

  5. Watch

    Watch each route

Observability shows requests and errors route by route.

How it fits together

Where Nitro sits between WhatsApp, your forms and Salesforce.

Messages, payments and forms arrive at Nitro routes running as Vercel Functions. The routes write to Salesforce or your database. Vercel Firewall sits in front, and Observability shows each route’s errors.

WhatsApp, payments and forms reach Nitro routes on Vercel, which write to Salesforce and a database.

Use cases · worked examples

One worked example in each industry.

How Nitro fits into the work of the industries we serve, one step at a time.

  1. A WhatsApp message reaches a Nitro route, a Salesforce case opens and the client gets the case number.

Example 1 · IT service desk, Bengaluru · Infographic

Service desk manager at a Bengaluru managed IT provider

Today: Clients report issues on WhatsApp. Someone copies each message into Salesforce by hand, and the night messages wait until morning.

After: A Nitro route takes the WhatsApp webhook, opens a Salesforce case and replies with the case number.

    Worked example, step by step

    1. 09:12Client. Sends a WhatsApp message: the third-floor printer is offline.
    2. 09:12WhatsApp. Posts the message to the Nitro webhook route.
    3. 09:12Nitro on Vercel. Matches the sender to a Salesforce contact and opens a case.
    4. 09:12Client. Gets a WhatsApp reply with the case number.
    5. 09:20Engineer. Picks up the case in Salesforce with the full message.
    6. 17:00Manager. Checks the webhook route’s errors in Observability.

Each WhatsApp report becomes a case without anyone copying it.

  2. A visa file moves in Salesforce, its cached status page refreshes on demand, and the client sees the new stage.

Example 2 · PRO services, Dubai · Infographic

Operations manager at a Dubai PRO and typing centre

Today: Clients call all day to ask if their visa file has moved. Each call pulls an officer off the counter.

After: Each file gets a Nitro status page, cached with ISR. When the file moves in Salesforce, Salesforce asks for that one page to refresh.

    Worked example, step by step

    1. 10:00Client. Opens the status link sent on WhatsApp. The cached page loads at once.
    2. 11:30PRO officer. Marks the medical test as done in Salesforce.
    3. 11:30Salesforce. Asks the site to refresh that file’s page, with the bypass token.
    4. 11:31Vercel. Rebuilds that one page. Every other file stays cached.
    5. 11:45Client. Opens the link again and sees the medical marked done.

Clients check their own file, and the page only asks Salesforce for data when the file moves.

  3. A tenant reports a leak with a photo, a Nitro route creates a work order, and the technician on call fixes it that night.

Example 3 · Facilities management, Riyadh · Infographic

Help desk lead at a Riyadh facilities management company

Today: Tenants email photos of leaks at night. Someone types the work orders up the next morning.

After: A Nitro form handler takes the tenant’s request and photo, creates a work order in Salesforce and alerts the technician on call.

    Worked example, step by step

    1. 21:40Tenant. Reports a leak with a photo on the building’s web form.
    2. 21:40Nitro on Vercel. Saves the photo and creates a Salesforce work order for the building.
    3. 21:41Technician on call. Gets the work order on his phone.
    4. 22:30Technician. Closes the work order with a photo of the fix.
    5. 08:00Help desk lead. Starts the day with the night’s work orders already done or assigned.

The leak is fixed the same night, and nobody types it up the next morning.

Is it for you

When Nitro fits, and when it doesn’t.

Good fit

Not for you yet

Webhooks or small APIs sit between WhatsApp, payments and Salesforce
Your API is written in Python: see FastAPI
Your team writes TypeScript
You need a full site with pages: Nuxt or TanStack Start sit on Nitro
Some pages change rarely but get many visits
A no-code tool already does the job and nobody needs to change it
You may change host later: Nitro deploys to many platforms
Your data must stay on servers in the UAE or Saudi Arabia

What Mindcat does

We build it, then we run it.

The assessment is free: a short read of the org and a written note. If you go ahead, the first build week is a fixed AED/SAR 14,900 (about USD 4,050), credited in full when you sign the build within 60 days. After go-live, we keep it patched, watched and changing every month.

FAQ

What teams ask about Nitro.

Is every Nitro app under 1MB?
The docs describe output under 1MB as a trait of the framework, not a promise for your app. Its size depends on what it includes, so we measure it.
How does a cached page refresh when Salesforce changes?
Nitro’s ISR supports on-demand refresh: a request with your bypass token in the x-prerender-revalidate header rebuilds that page. We call it from Salesforce when the record changes.
Can we see errors per route?
Yes, with Nitro 2.12 or later and compatibilityDate set to 2025-07-15 or later. Older apps get upgraded first.
Do we need Nuxt to use Nitro?
No. Nitro runs on its own as an API server. It is also what runs Nuxt’s server, and Vercel recommends it for running TanStack Start.
What does it cost?
There is no Nitro price on Vercel. Its routes run as Vercel Functions on your plan. Hobby is for non-commercial, personal use only, so business webhooks need Pro or Enterprise.
